BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo Blue and White Fund announced today that UB Athletics has received a $400,000 gift from two long-time supporters, Robert (’67) and Carol Morris.
The gift, in support of UB Athletics capital initiatives, was made with a challenge to other UB alumnus, friends and fans to step forward and do the same. With this in mind, the Morrises have pledged an additional $200,000 if and when a second gift of $400,000 or more is secured by the Blue and White Fund.
The Blue & White Fund’s mission is to generate financial support for UB Athletics through the encouragement of private giving and for the purpose of providing resources for scholarships, facility enhancements and construction as well as an array of critical student-athlete opportunities.
Former UB hockey player Tunney Murchie and his family were recognized for their $1 million gift to UB Athletics. This is one of the largest single commitments in UB Division of Athletics history. In recognition of the gift, UB Athletics recommended to the UB Council that the football center at UB Stadium be named "The Murchie Family Football Center.
