Eric Gross serves as the deputy athletic director for external operations. In his role, he is responsible for overseeing development, sponsorships, ticketing, marketing and promotions as well as broadcasting and athletic communications.

Additionally, he serves as sport supervisor for men’s and women’s basketball.

Since arriving at UB in July 2013, Gross has overseen the creation and implementation of several key initiatives aimed at increasing giving and active membership in the Blue & White Fund, including priority seating programs for both football and basketball, the Shareholders Society for major gift contributors and a capital campaign to fund enhancements to UB’s athletic facilities.

Over the last three years, the athletics donor base has risen to record levels, growing over 170%. Overall, fundraising has also reached an all-time high, growing 19% in fiscal year ‘14, 69% in fiscal year ’15 and 32% in fiscal year ‘16. Major gift commitments have reached record highs and have led to a number of significant enhancements to the athletics facilities infrastructure, including the new Smolinski Family Sports Medicine Center, the Gicewicz Club, a new premium-seating venue at UB Stadium and a multi-million dollar expansion to the Murchie Family Football Center.

Gross came to Buffalo from the University of Mississippi where he served as associate director of development. At Ole Miss he was a member of a team that posted three consecutive record–breaking fundraising years. Gross played an integral role in the planning, preparation and launch of the Capital Gift Agreement (CGA) program and the Forward Together campaign, a $150 million fundraising effort to bring a new basketball arena and football stadium expansion to Ole Miss.

Prior to joining the team at Ole Miss, Gross was a development assistant with the Tennessee Fund, the fundraising arm for the University of Tennessee Athletics. While at Tennessee, he worked closely with the director of capital campaigns to support UT Athletics ongoing capital campaign aimed at a number of major facility projects. In addition, he was responsible for administering to season ticket programs for both football and basketball.

Gross earned his B.A. from San Diego State University and his J.D. from the University of Tulsa. He was admitted to the Tennessee bar in 2009.
